Introducing: The Space Between Hands
This is why I'm moving to Substack
1. Why we’re here
Mallory Maran here — I’m converting my email list to Substack! In my Substack, you’ll find stories related to my personal journey and client sessions, reflections on marriage and the importance of going into this work in partnership, guidance on physical body healing, and upcoming offerings and certifications.
The name of this Substack The Space Between the Hands — came to me as a reflection of the medicine that unfolds when you are doing Energy Work on someone – and there is electricity that bolts through your hands and their physical body.
A brief reintroduction: I’m a Reiki Master, Intuitive, and Somatic Therapist seeing clients in-person in Miami and via Zoom all over the world. I also have a background in natural/functional medicine, which is how my personal journey started, healing from chronic illnesses.
The short story is I was able to heal beyond conventional medicine, and even beyond supplements and diet — by working with Energy.
Many people go to Energy as a last resort, thinking that they need to get the more “serious” things checked out first. I would argue working in these ways is one of the most serious things you can do. No matter what is showing up for the person, even if they need surgery or medications, the body cannot recover without life force — the part of you that animates you, that keeps you breathing, that keeps you alive, that keeps you holding on.
Working with Energy not only invigorates that life force, it also is a stimulus that can help heal inflammation, scar tissue, a swollen abdomen, issues in the uterus, postpartum recovery etc. It’s like a laser that comes in and your body and spirit know exactly what to do with it. It’s channeling the source of all creation.
Additionally, while medical advice should never be neglected, there are treatments that are prescribed when it’s not what’s needed or calling to the body. They take out gallbladders, uteruses, and more so easily. Antibiotics used to be thrown around like candy. Birth control is given for hormones, when that doesn’t solve underlying issues. While there are times such treatments are needed, an individual’s innate intelligence coming online can save them from unnecessary interventions. I have seen that personally as have some of my clients.
Aside from the physical, when you find a practitioner you really click with, this work can help lift fog, depression, grief, negative cycles, or being in a rut. It’s a very different experience from trying to think our way out, which is often our mind forcing things or fear creating outcomes that either aren’t reality or we can’t control.
When we clear the energy and combine that with intuitive therapy, we feel lighter and can move through things without so much fear or heaviness.
2. Beyond compartmentalization
A lot of people compartmentalize things — go to therapy for your anxiety, take SSRIs for your depression, do this cleanse for your gut, and take these pills for your hormones. Here, we don’t compartmentalize the mind from the body, the physical from the emotional. It’s all interconnected.
I’m here to show you how working in these ways can help whether you’re looking for peace in your nervous system, strength in your marriage, a gut that doesn’t bloat or react to foods, periods without pain, recovery from burnout, fatigue, or finding light in cycles of shadows/darkness.
We’ll also tap into bigger questions like the meaning of God and how we find that within ourselves. How feeling is different from just reading, reciting, or doing a tradition out of fear. How mystical experiences can have a real effect on your health, your glow, and your choices every day. Rather than trying to access these states by leaving the body, we’re going into the body.
3. Why this, why now
We live in a world we’re there is so much information. The Internet has turned into a place with quick tips and tricks, and we’ve forgotten the magic of long-form content and real stories. My hope is you will get something from this that sticks, different from scrollable content we look at for distraction.
At times, the writing may invite “healing” but it doesn’t have to. Sometimes, it may offer a new perspective or experience. Sometimes, it may provoke you to think differently. Sometimes, it may relay stories from client experiences. Sometimes, it may be stories of my own journey. It may contain musings of what’s behind Reiki, Energy, or the unseen worlds. Sometimes, it may surface the mystical aspects of Judaism that have been forgotten. And sometimes, it may even be – psychedelic.
4. Grateful for this community
Whether you’ve been part of my community since the early days, are a client of mine, live in Miami, or live elsewhere in the world, I’m sincerely grateful to have you. My hope is this Substack can foster community, connection, and for those of you who are local, help provide feedback for ways I can curate more in-person offerings that are meaningful. Your feedback matters as well as curiosities in what you’d like to see here! Comment, and if this resonates, share with a friend 🙏
